Meet Hayley
Senior Associate Attorney
Pronouns: she/her
Hayley I. Archer joined Beacon with a background in civil litigation and workplace advocacy. In private practice from 2018 until 2024, Hayley litigated a wide range of employment discrimination, civil rights, and benefits cases. In addition to direct representation, Hayley has also worked on impact litigation and collaborated with community groups to advocate for reproductive justice and the rights of incarcerated women, including in her role as a staff attorney with the ACLU of Wisconsin.
Hayley’s Employment Practice
As an employment lawyer, she takes the time to help her clients understand their legal rights, so that they can make educated legal choices.
Hayley stands tenaciously alongside employees who face:
-
discrimination based on race, gender, age, national origin, ability, religion, sexual orientation, and gender identity,
-
wrongful termination,
-
hostile work environments,
-
sexual harassment, and
-
retaliation claims.
Not every employment matter involves a dispute. Hayley also represents clients in severance negotiations to analyze each client’s distinct situation, identify client-centered objectives, and employ creative solutions to get her clients the best possible outcome.
Passion, Pragmatism, and Community
Hayley represents every case with passion and pragmatism. Before law school, she worked in a range of jobs, from commercial insurance to waiting tables. This breadth of experience developed the knowledge, insight, and sensitivity behind her client-centered approach.
Her dedication to justice extends beyond the courtroom. She has served as a guest lecturer on LGBTQIA2S+ law, authored presentations on building gender-inclusive legal practices, and spoken on panels covering a range of issues from disability rights advocacy to public interest law.
Originally from coastal Maine, Hayley practiced law in the Midwest before moving to her wife’s hometown, Portland. Hayley loves the parks, the food, and the independent movie theaters.
